1ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “SHAPING THE EUROPEAN EDUCATIONAL AGENDA FROM THE BOTTOM UP” – 22ND SEPTEMBER 2016, NICOSIA (CYPRUS)

The ‘Abused no More’ partnership is pleased to announce its 1st International Conference entitled ‘Shaping the European Educational Agenda from the Bottom Up’ that will be taking place on Thursday 22nd September 2016 at the Journalists House in Nicosia. The conference, hosted by KISA – Action for Equality, Support Antiracism aims to present and discuss the findings of the first year of the project that have been published in the multinational report entitled ” My Voice – My Rights: Young, Marginalised and Empowered by the law’’.

Keynote Speakers include:

George Markopouliotis – Head of the European Commission Representation in Cyprus

Leda Koursoumba, the Cypriot Commissioner for Children’s Rights

Anthoula Papadopoulou, the chairperson of KISA

Dr Theo Gavrielides, founder and Director of The IARS International Institute and Coordinator of the AnM partnership

The conference will be attended by international experts, youth professionals, policy makers and young people.

Re-exploring our roots and our common cultural heritage can be an effective answer to the multiple crises Europe is facing.”

As a user led organisation, IARS runs the Youth Advisory Group. YAB is a team of young volunteers aged 15 – 25 from different backgrounds and circumstances who are aware of the problems facing young people in today’s society and who are interested in an opportunity to do something positive about these issues. This body will be consulted at all stages of the project. This is an excellent opportunity for young people to get their voices heard and to address issues that are important for them.

The Abused No More project is an opportunity for young people, professionals and organizations dealing with discrimination, legal literacy and abuse prevention to network in order to share information, practices, experiences and useful tools across Europe.
